I've been to this restaurant a couple of times, but after my most recent experience, I won't be returning. We were a party of six on a Thursday evening and were seated promptly. Unfortunately, that's where the positive experience ended. It took 17 minutes before anyone acknowledged our table or took our drink order. By that point, we already knew exactly what we wanted to eat, but our server told us he needed to enter the drinks first and would come back for our protein order. That added another 11-minute wait. When the drinks finally arrived, they were incomplete, the glasses were covered in condensation, and the beverages were already warm—making it obvious they'd been sitting for a while before being brought to the table. The explanation was that there wasn't a bartender that night, so our server was making drinks for all of his tables. While I can appreciate staffing challenges, that's a management problem—not something customers paying premium prices should have to absorb. The food here is absolutely delicious! My wife and I ate here and ordered a bunch of small plates. We tried the Spicy Jalapeño Edamame, Fried Pork Gyoza Dumplings, Japanese Chicken Karaage and Chili Mayo Fried Shrimp. All of the food was amazing! We order Edamame a lot from different places and this was easily the best Edamame we have eaten in Austin. We want to return to try their premium beefs. The prices are reasonable as well. They have great specials for happy hour and all you can eat. The service is great. We enjoyed the atmosphere too. Definitely a great experience overall!

Ate lunch on a date and It was delish! First time and must say the food was superb and my date really enjoyed it! Waiter Kimin provided excellent service! Gave us the run down and must say grilling at the table made this meal fun. The yakishabu beef was one of my favorites but the pallet is so broad I will definitely try somethin else next time. Not only was he attentive, he gave us the rundown and kept our drinks filled, and checked on us throughout the meal! Good food, great service, outstanding environment, and hella fun! We will definitely come back.

We came on a Tuesday night and loved that it wasn’t too busy. The relaxed atmosphere made conversation easy. Our server, Angelina, was sweet and attentive, changing our grills often and checking in at the right moments. The meat quality was great and we’d definitely come back! There is ample street parking and a parking garage behind the building that I believe you can validate at the restaurant.

Came to Gyu-Kaku yesterday and had a great time. Our server Bach was very attentive the whole meal and always greeted us with big smiles. We ordered the Ultimate set and honestly loved everything we picked. The meat is marinated really well and there are so many options, so it’s easy to find favorites.
